Affirmation Call Process Flow

Here is the bright, shiny, new process flow diagram for an affirmation call. Below is an outline version describing the same.

  1. Caller begins by:
    1. Dialing the toll free number OR
    2. Pressing the call button on the mobile web application
  2. System looks within the caller's pre-selected groups and goal categories
  3. System cross-references those within the potential field of recipients and their available call windows
  4. Caller is placed in "on hold" mode.
  5. System plays “affirmation tips” for the caller
  6. System begins decision process between caller and the randomly selected recipient.
  7. System plays the “caller profile” for the recipient
    1. Recipient accepts. Continue to step 8 OR
    2. Recipient declines:
    3. System returns to step 2.
      1. If the caller has already been “declined by recipient” for the current call, the system plays a message notifying the caller that there are no recipients currently available to receive their affirmation.
      2. Caller is given the option to record a general affirmation for the next recipient that becomes available - it is important to validate and capture the caller’s good will with the option to affirm someone even if anonymously.
      3. END
  8. System plays the “recipient profile” for the caller
    1. Caller accepts. Continue to step 9 OR
    2. Caller declines:
      1. System returns to step 2.
      2. If the caller has already declined the first recipient, the caller is given the option to record a general affirmation.
      3. END
    3. Recipient is given option to:
      1. receive general affirmation OR
      2. record general affirmation
      3. END
  9. System plays Affirmation Oath for both parties.
  10. System plays reminder “press 8 to rate” before hanging up for both parties.
  11. System connects both parties in “live mode”.
  12. Caller provides the affirmation
  13. possibility for cross-affirmation
  14. both parties “press 8 to rate”
  15. both parties are prompted to rate the other party
    1. press 1 for minus (-)
    2. press 2 for neutral ( )
    3. press 3 for plus (+)
  16. both parties hang up
  17. END

Details

Affirm(dot)Me is a peer to peer life-coaching service. It connects generous and ambitious people, with shared interests, who cheer each other on so they can achieve their goals. Each member will randomly receive encouragement during real-time phone conversations to count their blessings, notice kindness and beauty and to do great things.

By receiving tiny, positive boosts at random over an extended period of time we are happier than if we had won the lottery.

Interested people sign up for the service either on the web site or by calling the toll-free number 1-855-2-AFFIRM. They self-select groups and goals of interest. They specify days and times that are best for receiving affirmation calls. After recording a brief audio profile they can make and receive affirmation calls.

I recently finished two months of testing my prototype with 30 people who made over 500 affirmation calls totaling 1,350 minutes.

Now I want to construct an open source application tied-in to an open source social network (buddypress?) for 100,000 people that can handle more than 2,000 affirmation calls each month. All phone conversations will be recorded, tied to both parties and accessible via their user account or phone. Both caller and recipient will rate each other after the call is finished.

The business model for this service is Freemium where free members serve paid members. Some people have a lot of time but little money. Others have plenty of money but little time. The first group uses their surplus time and makes 2 calls to receive 1 call. The second group pays $5/month and receives at least 1 call a week with no obligation to make any calls.

Many of these activities make the recipient and the caller happier creating intrinsic and extrinsic motivation that results in an upward spiral of positivity.

Seeking a Mentor

I am creating a goal achievement service called Affirm(dot)Me. After 2 months of 30 users making nearly 500 calls totaling 1,100 minutes of affirmations with the prototype application, it is time to make it bigger and better.  Hiring and managing a team of programmers to create a social network and an online phone application for 100,00 users is beyond my reckoning.

I want a wise and experienced mentor who has the patience to guide me into this next level. Are you that mentor? Do you know someone who is? All answers welcome. My goal is to find someone 6 weeks from now, by Thursday, April 12th.

Member I.D. Mock-Up

All of this is subject to change. At this moment this is what I think an Affirm.Me Member's profile might look like. Not the full profile, just the highlights. I have no idea what kind of conversion there will be for the Barter Points. 427 minutes turns out to be just over 7 hours of affirmations. So if there is a one to one exchange for hours to barter, there'd be 7 Barter Points.

None of that matters at this stage. It will all become clear in due time.

Audio I.D.

Just hired the talented Thom Martin to create a unique audio I.D. to greet people calling the Affirm.Me toll-free number. Have a listen to a piece Thom made a while back:
